"I received a free book in exchange for writing a review on my blog"
IKEAHackers.net by Jules Yap is another one of my favorite Ikea books! This one actually has some creative ideas for home furnishing designs and projects. However, these projects and designs are the traditional looks you'll find at any retail shop. Instead, this book is packed with more unique designs that give the house a bit of an edge with all eyes directed to those pieces of furniture. The one thing is that these styles aren't scary, but just ones that still can fit any room and add a bit more beauty to the room it's placed into.
For example, there is this Hexagon Shelving unit that really captured my eyes when I saw it in the table of contents. So I actually just jumped right on that page to see how it's done and let me tell you, every step is mentioned and explained in clear view. There are photos of the steps and everything that is needed to be done. So nothing is forgotten or skipped and the project, well every project in this book is easy to complete all by the one who is going to make it.
I honestly wish I had this book a month ago because there is one project on making a dollhouse that I so could have used before buying one. However, I will definitely still keep that project in mind for the future. I really can't say that the book is easy because it does take a bit of skill and time. If you rush things and don't know specific tools, it can be hard to know what you're doing and get it right. However, if you are already an expert in DIY wood crafts, then this may be a breeze to do!
Finally, I really love the images, the projects and the unique styles that I can bring to my home and anyone else. This would really be a wonderful project book for this summer and help me learn a few more skills while creating these gorgeous household objects.
