Singer: The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing, 3rd Edition by Nancy Langdon

"I received a free sample in exchange for writing a review on my blog"

Oh my, I love to sew! Lately, I've been trying to get my hands on so many designs and projects to make. However, my one problem is not being completely sure about a few tools or many ideas on the stitches to use for different fabrics. Therefore, to find a book like the Singer: The Complete Photo Guide To Sewing, 3rd Edition by Nancy Langdon is quite helpful! It's got everything I need right inside! I mean, I don't have to search all over the internet or through other books to get info. It's basically the perfect beginner book and advance book to own for all sewing needs. The detailed information is great, but the photos are what make this book my favorite!

Since I learn more by watching, I tend to enjoy the images being so clear and easy to understand by just looking at them. I can easily follow along and understand what I'm looking at or what to do next. Plus, I really feel that the book gives me so many ideas on new ways to use my machine and even how to use other tools that I never used before! Now maybe instead of saying I can't or I have no idea how too, I can actually just do it with no problem! This book gives me everything, with the right guidance and with the images, I can follow at my own pace. No more searching YouTube for the correct answers to my questions or getting lost in any way!

What I really needed help on was stitching with different fabrics like working with knits and the types of stitches. This book was perfect to help cover that information for me. It's quite handy and has aided in my completion of a few projects that I've been working on. Plus, I learned about so much, such as the different types of pins, which I had no idea there are different types of pins for the projects your working on. Such as quilting and pleating, which are different in shape and length and created to help keep the fabric in shape while sewing. Also, I had no idea what a serger really did. I never owned one, and really wanted to buy one in the near future, but wasn't sure what to expect or if I really need one. However, this book showed me with great details what it can do with fabric and the parts of the machine.

Another thing that really stood out to me is learning how to use the patterns that come in those packages. I never bought any of those yet but was about too. So to know something more before buying is always a plus, and learning how to use them correctly and how to trace them to the fabric is also a good thing too!

One thing I did want to mention is that I know that the book says Singer as the title, but honestly, you learn more about sewing in general, by hand or by any machine and the different tools there are to use. It's not all about those that own a Singer, so you don't need to think it's good for Singer owners only. I don't own a Singer, but a Brother and maybe in the future will own one, but I found this book helpful no matter the machine!

Finally. I would love to say, this is worth every cent! I honestly love it and would scream that to the world! I don't have to fear any more problems with sewing fabrics, or how to gather, add darts and make my clothing look like I want it to be! This book, Singer has really helped a bunch and I would highly recommend it to all my sewing friends, even those who may be experts at sewing since this would be one of those books that you can glance back at when you need an answer or a reminder.
