The book, The New Vegetables, Herbs and Fruit by Matthew Biggs, Jekka McVicar, and Bob Flowerdew is packed with everything you might want to know about vegetables, herbs, and fruit,
it's got it all! There is so much information that many books don't provide. This is the perfect reference and source book for cooks, health experts and anyone who's interested in learning about what produce they eat. 

The order of the book is alphabetical, making it easy to find certain veggies and fruits inside. However, you might get confused. THis is because it is alphabetical but each section, wheater fruit or veggie or even herbs are located in their own section. So you can find them in one place and look through alphabetically. I realized from the contents how the book was set up, which is pretty nice. So your eally won't get stuck figuring out what is really a veggie and what is a fruit and where to find them.
This book to me is the best guide that tops all others when it comes to plant food! This book is packed with so many different veggies and fruits, some I've never heard of and would consider trying in recipes. The different ones mentioned inside do have sections of what you can create in recipes or how to use them to add flavor to a dish. Also, knowing more about a certain plant you can fingure out what to substitute or the different varities there are for that certain plant. 
There is even coverage on how to care for the plant and growth of the veggie or fruit is also mentioned inside, which is pretty neat for gardeners and those interested in growing their own produce. I really have to say, this big book is worth it! Packed with knowledge and information that I can surely use! Finally, I am very impressed and super happy with the information of this
encyclopedia, it's perfect!

Matthew Biggs lectures at the Royal Horticultural Society and around the world. He is the co-author of Complete Book of Vegetables.

Jekka McVicar has been awarded 59 Royal Horticultural Society gold medals. She is well known for her regular appearances on TV and radio gardening programs. She is the author of Jekka's Herb Cookbook.

Bob Flowerdew is an author and a lecturer for the Royal Horticultural Society. His previous books include Organic Gardening Bible: Successful Growing the Natural Way.
