A History of Photography in Fifty Cameras by Dr. Michael Pritchard

The book, A History of Photography in Fifty Cameras by Dr. Michael Pritchard is such a great reference to each camera throughout history! So many unique styles and designs from way back then to now! A true realistic view of each and information about the brands and features that each possessed. There are even details on the creator of the certain camera and time period it was invented. You really get a full inside view of the camera and how old it really is by using this book!
The details of the camera, what it can do is explained is full inside and so is the design. Each having a different look and such a wonderful explanation about why they are designed that exact way. For example, the Rolletflex 3.5F, a camera made with two lenses and such a big rectangular design but was said to be used to photograph animals at the London Zoo and was sold during the 1880s to 1890s. The extra lens was used to focus better, which made it easier to take photos and also this brand would be considered a two lens stereoscopic camera. Interesting information and pretty cool photographs! Also, there is one about a Talbot Mousetrap, produced in the 1830s in the UK. This is a box design with a huge lens and yet was created by William Hendry Fox Talbot. It was used for the negative-positive process of photos in photography, something that occurred before the rise of digital in the 2000s. Now that is just a two, while there are so much more to be found inside! Each with dates, creators and locations to where they are made or found first.
Finally, the entire book has plenty of wonderful photographs and information on each! Also to mention that there are brands we are known to love like Kodak, Pansonic and many others inside. So with this book you really interesting especially if you love cameras and want to learn more about them, this is a wonderful reference back into history till now! Learning about cameras can be fun, great read!
